Australia to Drive Made-in-India Ford EcoSport
After launching the much awaited compact SUV Ford EcoSport in India in June 2013, the American car maker will export the built in India EcoSport models to Australia. The Australian market will get the compact SUV in December 2013, at around 20,000 Australian Dollars.
Like Ford mentioned earlier, the company's India based facility will manufacture EcoSport for various Right hand drive markets. So, the Australia's Right Hand Drive market too will drive the made-in-India model, which will possibly be very similar to that of the model to be sold in India.
The Australia bound EcoSport will be offered with two petrol engine options- the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre Ti-VCT, 4-cylinder petrol engine. However, the 1.5-litre diesel powered model won't make its way to Australia. And like the Indian EcoSport, the Australia bound model too will get both manual and automatic transmission gearbox, and there again it's the 1.5-litre petrol powered model will get the six-speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission as an option.
Here in India Ford is all set to launch the vehicle by June-end, currently the media drives are going on. And the ones who have already driven the car including CarDekho, have given the positive feedback about the car. It's just the pricing which will now play a crucial role. Since the vehicle has over 80% local content, so expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 6-9 lakh.
