Like the 2017 Honda City, the Jazz facelift features subtle aesthetic changes over the outgoing model.

The mid-cycle update/facelift of the third-generation Honda Jazz has been spied in an alleged brochure leak from its home country, Japan. The first ever test mule of the 2018 Jazz facelift was spotted on the roads of Brazil last month.

The updated 2018 Jazz will be unveiled in the coming month and is expected to go on sale first in the Japanese market, like the outgoing model. Speaking of its Indian debut, the Jazz facelift is likely to be launched next year, and might be revealed at the 2018 Indian Auto Expo.

What’s new?

  • Features a slightly sleeker grille and all-LED headlamps (expect LED foglamps as well ) like the 2017 Honda City facelift
  • The redesigned front bumper makes it look sharper and sportier compared to the outgoing model
  • Sides have absolutely no changes; these 16-inch alloys wheels are offered in markets outside India with the current model. Expect the facelift model to come with these alloys in India (presently it offers 15-inch alloys in the country)
  • The restyled rear bumper gets a dual-tone theme like the new City
  • The tail lamps retain the same design, but get new graphics. Also, the LED strip in the updated model is likely to extend to the top as seen presently in the Australian version (check out the image below)

  • On the inside, it is expected to get subtle changes (may get an addition of soft-touch plastic like the new City along with a different upholstery). The Indian version will get the new 7.0-inch Digipad infotainment system, which made its debut with the 2017 City and is also available in the WR-V

Mechanically, the 2018 Jazz is likely to remain unaltered and will carry forward the current set of powertrain options – 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol (90PS/110Nm, 5-speed MT/CVT) and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel (100PS/200Nm, 6-speed MT). Further, considering the growing hot-hatch segment in the country, Honda could offer the updated Jazz with the City’s 1.5-litre (119PS/145Nm) motor in the country as an RS model (available in several markets). The current Jazz with this 1.5-litre petrol engine is exported from the country. Hope for the best! Stay tuned.
