2012 World car of the year award goes to VW Up!

The champions of the much awaited 2012 World car of the year awards are announced at the NY International Auto Show and the first position was grabbed by Volkswagen Up! Volkswagen Up climbed up to the top position by beating the very elegant BMW 3 Series and Porsche 911. In all there were about 34 nominees, so it would have been a tough decision, but Volkswagen Up! certainly deserved to be on the top. The major highlights that helped Volkswagen Up to receive the honor were its remarkable steering, high quality of materials, splendid suspension engine and so on.

The car provides a very premium feel to the owner. On the other hand, Porsche 911 was a strong competitor as well and didn’t leave empty handed from the New York International Auto Show. Porsche 911 received an award for World performance car of the year and Lamborghini Aventador came as a runner up. The major reason behind Porsche 911 grabbing the performance car of the year award is its practicality. The other winner in the New York International Auto Show comprise of Mercedes Benz S250 CDI BlueEfficiency, who received the title of 2012 World Green car of the year. This car is powered with four cylinder S-class engine and claims to deliver world-class mileage of 17.5 km per litre and emit out merely 149g of carbon dioxide every kilometer.

Finally, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque bagged the World Car Design of the Year award. The splendid shape and very futuristic design of the car caught the eye. The other two finalists in this segment comprised of Citroen DS5 and Volkswagen Up! Therefore, it seemed that every company got a reason to smile at New York International Auto Show and Volkswagen' s small car, Up! proved that what is in store for the Indian auto market.
