Volvo XC90 details out
Volvo, the Swedish manufacturer who recently revealed the interiors and audio system of its seven-seater SUV XC90 is now prepping up for an early debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The premium SUV features a large touch screen control console along with the integration of handcrafted soft leather and wood panels.

The upcoming SUV, codenamed as V526 is more or less similar to its predecessor launched earlier in 2002.Volvo XC90 will be the lightest in segment despite of the extensive use of super-high-strength steels.
Håkan Ivarsson, technical director of Vehicle Line 90, throwing light on the kerb weight of the vehicle said that the SPA cars will be “lightest in class”. He also mentioned that the only significant use of aluminum is in solidifying the structural integrity of the car.
The structure is based on the five different sections out of which only the engine bay and bulkhead section are fixed while the rest four-the front overhang, cabin, rear luggage space and rear overhang are of different shapes and independent to each other. The SPA mainframe is capable of housing a four-cylinder engine which delivers power to all its wheels.
Inside the cabin, the most prominent feature of SUV is the 9.5-inch tablet-like touch screen control console which operates almost all the interior functions of SUV. The screen is divided into the four sections- navigation, media, phone and weather with the Apple’s new CarPlay system.
The car can be linked to the internet based mobile apps and Volvo's world wide web services. The interiors also feature the combination of soft leather and hand-crafted wood panels. Bowers & Wilkins provide the entertainment system comprising of a 12 channel HARMAN 1,400 watts Class D amplifier powering a total of 19 Bowers & Wilkins speakers – 7 Nautilus tweeters (25 mm) with the latest treble technology, 7 midrange speakers (5x100 mm and 2x80 mm).
Moreover, the gear lever is made up of crystal glass from Orrefors, a famous Swedish glass maker while the diamond-cut controls are given for the start/stop button and volume control. “The most striking feature is a tablet-like touch screen control console, which forms the heart of an all-new in-car control system,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Senior Vice President Design of Volvo Cars.
Under the hood, the car will get its power from a four-cylinder, twin turbochargers in combination with supercharging which provides more economical fuel efficiency. The diesel engine gets i-ART injection system which further enhances the fuel economy from 15 per cent to 35 per cent.
