Toyota Kirloskar Motor Gets National Exporter Award

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) was presented the National award for Engineering Export Excellence at the 47th Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPCI) awards ceremony. The carmaker received a gold trophy under the Merchant Exporter category. In the past, TKM has been awarded the Exporter Excellence award by EEPCI for 10 years at the southern region level and 6 years at the national level.

Its manufacturing plant in Bengaluru, where it manufactures models for the Indian market, also exports Completely Built Units (CBUs) like the Etios and the Etios Liva, and auto parts to South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Argentina and Brazil.

Several representatives from TKM attended the award ceremony, where Sandeep Bhagat, deputy general manager, TKM, received the award from Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, union minister of railways, Government of India. Raju B. Ketkale, senior vice president, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, shared his thoughts by highlighting that the company aligns all its processes to the Quality, Durability and Reliability philosophy, which has helped in manufacturing globally competitive automotive technologies and processes. He further added that such recognition will help the car firm to further foray into the international trade space with more products, which will help the company keep growth intact in export performance.

Ketkale said, “In the year 2014-2015, we were successful in achieving good export numbers. TKM's exports from the country stand at 12.08 per cent on total turnover, showcasing our successful determination to bring the Indian Automobile Industry to hit the global chart."
