Toyota Innova Crysta Will Be Launched By the End of May 2016
The next generation of the world's largest automaker’s flagship MPV, the Toyota Innova Crysta will hit Indian showrooms very soon. In a recent interview, vice chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr. Vikram S. Kirloskar confirmed that the upcoming MPV will be launched in India by the end of May 2016
We recently reported that the bookings for the Toyota Innova Crysta have commenced and, now it looks like the next generation of world's largest automaker’s flagship MPV will hit Indian showrooms very soon. In a recent interview, vice chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Mr. Vikram S. Kirloskar confirmed that the upcoming MPV will be launched in India by the end of May 2016.
As of now, the official word has only confirmed that the Crysta will be launched in diesel variants only. Powering the car will be Toyota’s 2.4-litre GD diesel motor, which will produce an impressive 149 PS of peak power output and 342 NM torque. The torque figures will be increased to 360 NM if consumers opt for the 6-speed automatic unit instead of the standard 5-speed manual gearbox.

The automatic variants will be ideal for consumers who are looking for comfortable driving dynamics and undertake both city commuting and long drives. The company is also considering launching petrol variants of the MPV at a later stage.
During the recent 2016 Indian Auto Expo, Toyota unveiled the Innova Crysta and one of the models showcased also incorporated a 2.8-litre GD diesel motor, which is capable of producing 177 PS of power output. This model will be ideal for consumers who are looking for an MPV with powerful performance, and it is expected that the new Innova Crysta may be launched featuring this powerplant. There is, however, no confirmation about the more powerful diesel variant as yet.
This generation of the Toyota Innova Crysta finds its foundation in the same platform that underpins the next generation of the Toyota Fortuner and, taking into consideration the features that Crysta will be offered with, it is expected that this generation of Innova will be India’s first-ever premium MPV. Moreover, Toyota has also ended the production of its last gen Innova.
