Mitsubishi aims annual sale of 5000 units of Pajero Sport; Pajero SFX might be discontinued
Mitsubishi has 6 different products traversing the Indian roads including sedans and SUVs. These products together generate total sales of about 2,000 units in a year. The Japanese automaker has recently launched new Pajero Sport SUV in India and has big plans hinged to it. The company made public its intention of selling about 5,000 units of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV within the first year of its launch. Big plans are being based on the success of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and the company aims at doubling its annual sales with this one product.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport bores a hefty price tag of Rs. 23.53 lakh in India (ex-showroom Delhi), but the company is looking forward to reduce this price by 20% once the assembly of the product is started through CKD (completely knocked down) kits in the domestic market. This plan would get into action from September 2012, and Mitsubishi will start assembling the Pajero Sport SUV at the Hindustan Motors’ Chennai production unit. Hindustan Motors is the Indian partner of this Japanese Auto Giant. The resultant of the CKD assembly units would be a price tag of less than Rs. 20 lakh for Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV.

With the probable drop in the price of Pajero Sport, Mitsubishi is likely to achieve the targets that are linked purely on its success. Mitsubishi’s top-selling product Pajero SFX SUV stil clocks an average sale of about 100 units each month but is now likely to be discontinued. It however, stands unclear whether Mitsubishi Pajero SFX will have to bid adieu to the auto world in next 4-5 months or not. If yes, then with the Pajero Sport will get into the big shoes of the Pajero SFX, Mitsubishi is expected to offer decent discount on the final batch of the classic Pajero SFX in the upcoming months. It will be a great deal for the lovers of this high performing SUV.
