Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Unveiled Ahead of New York Auto Show Showcase

German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the GLC coupe. The sports SUV is expected to be showcased at the 2016 New York Motor Show. As this car is a coupe version of the standard SUV, it features an extremely sloping roofline and incorporates the same four-door layout as the standard car on which it is based.

The standard Mercedes-Benz GLC made its debut at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo , which culminated last month in Greater Noida. The coupe version of this car shares its design approach with the standard SUV and the larger GLE coupe. Another design highlight is the large liftback tailgate, which means that the coupe version of the GLC SUV  compromises on the boot space, which has now been reduced by 59-litres compared to the standard car.

The new SUV not only features cosmetic updates, but also gets new suspension set-up options, which include the likes of Dynamic Body Control and Air Body Control. These provide occupants with a much more comfortable ride and bestow the car with sportier handling characteristics.

Under the hood, it is expected that Mercedes will offer this SUV with its 250 D, 201 BHP diesel motor, which will be the car’s most frugal variant. The GLC coupe is expected to be offered with the same powerplant that’s found in the C63 AMG Sedan , which is capable of producing 503 BHP of power output from its twin-turbocharged V8 petrol powerplant. This model will basically cater to customers who are looking for a sporty utility vehicle that features aggressive styling. So far, there are no confirmations about if and when the GLC coupe will make its way to Indian shores, but the standard GLC is expected to hit Indian streets sometime in late 2016.
