Mercedes-Benz E-Class is Indian Government's New Ride
Mercedes- Benz has been commisioned by Ministry of External Affairs to provide them with 55 top-spec E250 CDI sedans. Mercedes-Benz will provide these cars to the External Affairs Ministry on lease and this order was issued to the German automaker by the Indian government.

Ministry of External Affairs has commissioned Mercedes-Benz to provide them with 55 top-spec E250 CDI sedans. This order was issued by the Indian government to the German automaker, who will provide these cars to the External Affairs Ministry on lease. The cars will find their applications in chauffeuring foreign dignitaries, which will include Heads of State, Ministers, Prime Ministers and Presidents, amongst other diplomats.
“Mercedes-Benz has always been the preferred luxury brand for Head of States across the globe including India, and we are extremely proud of this fact...The mandate from the Ministry of External Affairs opting for the E-Class luxury sedan is a reiteration of the inherent strength of our product and of the unsurpassable brand equity that Mercedes-Benz commands in the Indian luxury car market.” said Roland Folger, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The company has seen significant growth in the country, which went up to 43% in August 2015 compared to sales figures of last year. The substantial growth of the German automaker can be attributed to its 15 models for 2015 portfolio for India. Mercedes-Benz is the oldest luxury car to have been manufactured in India and the first car produced, dates back to 1995. In excess of 30,000 of Mercedes-Benz E-Class units have been sold in India. This order will also improve the presence of the automaker in the country.
