2017 Hyundai Elantra Debuts at 2015 LA Auto Show
Hyundai has revealed its 2017 Elantra for the US market at the ongoing 2015 LA Auto Show. This is the 6th generation of one of Hyundai’s all time best-selling models. The car is expected to reach U.S. dealerships in early 2017. Hyundai will most probably introduce this model in India in the third quarter of 2016.

Elantra was introduced as Avante in South Korea and it is on sale there under this name. The 2 models have some minor cosmetic differences but largely remain the same. The standard engine available on the base SE and Limited trim is a 2.0-liter MPI Atkinson four-cylinder engine producing a peak 147 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 179 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm. The second powertrain is an all-new 1.4-liter Kappa turbocharged GDI four-cylinder engine that is employed in the Elantra Eco variant and which will be available after Spring 2016. This engine produces 128 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a robust 211.5 Nm of torque at a low 1,400 ~ 3,700 rpm. This block will be mated to an EcoShift seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Hyundai claims that the Eco trim will achieve a mileage of 14 km/l.
Talking about the looks, the US version of Elantra gets a huge front grill worked up in chrome and angular DRLs in the bumper. The overall design stays very aerodynamic though Hyundai had dropped the fluidic design theme and adopted a new design language which is being showcased in this model. The C shape fog lamps along with the hexagonal chrome grill make the car look really appealing. The tail lamps and boot has also been tweaked to look more sleek and aerodynamic. Inside, the car comes loaded with technology like the advanced 8.0-inch navigation system that features an enhanced display with improved touch sensitivity, for touch and drag control, increased screen brightness for better daytime visibility, and a split-screen display showing map and music data. For additional convenience and connectivity, navigation-equipped Elantras offers pre-loaded apps, voice control functions, and premium SiriusXM features. Also, for the first time, Elantra will feature an eight-speaker Infinity premium audio system, including a center speaker and subwoofer.
