Citroen C3 Electric Spied Charging Ahead Of Debut
It will be a premium alternative to the Tata Tiago EV
Citroen is gearing up to launch the all-electric version of the C3 hatchback, as evidenced by a test mule that was spotted with a charging cable on the front right fender. This is the first time the EV has been spotted without drapes, giving us a better look at its design. It’ll be based on the same highly-localised CMP platform as its ICE-powered sibling.
The leaked image reveals the front fascia of the hatchback, which seems to be largely unchanged apart from the charging port in the front fender. While the overall silhouette is similar to the standard C3, expect a few more electric-specific design changes to the exterior and cabin to mark it as a proper EV.
Citroen is expected to offer multiple powertrain options for the all-electric C3, which could include the 50kWh battery pack offered with the Peugeot e-208. Based on the same platform, the Peugeot gets a 136PS/260Nm electric motor which can run for a WLTP-claimed range of over 350km. The C3 electric could also get a smaller battery pack with a real-world range of around 300-350km. As it was spotted at a fast charging station, we expect the EV to get a fast-charging compatible battery infrastructure for brisk charging times.
The EV should pack additional creature comfort features over the ICE-powered C3, which gets a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, and a four-speaker sound system. New feature additions could include cruise control, rear washer, and automatic climate control.

The first electric Citroen in the country is expected to make its debut by the end of this year, with an expected launch by April 2023. Citroen could price it around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), which would put it in contention with the Tata Tigor EV. It will also be considered a premium alternative to the upcoming Tata Tiago EV.
