Volkswagen has launched the much awaited Beetle in the country at a starting price tag of Rs. 28.73 lacs (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings for the 21st century Beetle was already underway. Two years after the discontinuation, the German carmaker has re-launched the Beetle with new styling, updated interiors and powerful engine underneath.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class Facelift

The baby Mercedes has completed the German automaker's '15 in '15 promise as the A Class hits the showroom floors today. The car has been launched at a price tag of Rs. 24.95 lacs. The A 180 Sport kicks off the pricing at Rs. 24.95 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai), and the Mercedes A 200d variant comes at Rs. 25.95 lacs (ex-showroom Mumbai). Largely a facelift, the updated A Class remains mechanically unchanged. The A Class facelift carries over the same engine and 7 speed dual clutch gearbox combo. While the facelift got Mercedes' 4MATIC system globally, it didn't make its way to the Indian market.

Audi Q7

Audi has launched its next-gen Q7 at a price of Rs 72 Lacs, ex-showroom Delhi. Initially, the vehicle will be imported through a CBU route but local manufacturing will start somewhere around mid-2016. This new SUV is lighter, faster and better looking than the previous version. Also, the new car is slightly smaller than its predecessor, 37mm shorter and 15mm less wide. The car will still compete against Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, BMW X5 and Volvo XC 90.

Mahindra XUV500 AT

Looking at the popularity of the Creta diesel automatic, Mahindra launched the automatic variant of the XUV5OO yesterday. The vehicle shares Scorpio’s 6-speed automatic unit which was launched earlier this year. The automatic transmission is available in W8, W10 and W10 AWD variants of the XUV5OO. Speaking of the prices, the variant prices start at Rs. 15.36 lacs (Ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).

Most Powerful Safari Storme Yet!

Tata has finally launched the highly anticipated and more powerful version of Safari Storme at a price of Rs 13.52 lacs (ex-showroom). Mechanically, this version is powered by Varicor 400 2.2 liter 4 cylinder engine and is able to deliver 25% extra torque (peak of 400 Nm) as compared to the previous one. It also gets an improved gearbox and churns out a maximum power of 156 PS. However, the latest upgradation is available only with VX trim (in 4×2 configuration) while 4x4 variant is expected to get the same at a later stage.

Mercedes Benz AMG GT S

Mercedes Benz India has launched its flagship model, the AMG GT S at Rs. 2.4 Cr (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the 5th AMG that has been launched in India this year and is developed completely in-house by the Mercedes AMG department. Replacing the SLS AMG, this supercar is powered by an all-new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 that churns out 510 PS of power along with 650 NM of torque.

Lamborghini LP580-2

Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2

Lamborghini has launched its RWD only, Huracan LP580-2 in India post its 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show world debut. The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has been launched with a price tag of Rs 2.99 crores (ex-showroom Delhi). The car made its debut couple of days ago, as the Italian automaker attempt at addressing the concerns regarding the compromise on driving exhilaration caused by the AWD system in the standard Huracan.

Maruti Baleno

Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti's premium hatchback has been launched at Rs. 4.99 lacs, ex- showroom Delhi (We almost guessed the price right). This is India's largest carmaker's second offering after the S-Cross, that will be exclusively sold through the Nexa premium dealerships.

Named after the mid-size sedan from a decade ago, the Baleno will compete against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz. Its top-spec model comes with all bells and whistles that a buyer of this segment asks for, including projectors and daytime-running lights, climate control, colour TFT information screen, a 7-inch touch screen with a rear parking camera and satellite navigation system, and the segment-first Apple CarPlay.

Chevrolet Trailblazer

Chevrolet has launched its ‘mammoth’ SUV, Trailblazer today at a price tag of Rs. 26.4 lacs. This is Chevrolet’s second take at the premium SUV segment after Captiva and will be a CBU product initially. Powering this beast is a 2.8-litre Duramax engine that churns out class-leading 200 PS of power and 500 NM of torque which is around 30 PS/157 NM more than the segment leader- Toyota Fortuner. However, unlike the Fortuner, Trailblazer is only available with a 2WD setup and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Fiat Abarth Punto Evo and Avventura

Fiat India has launched the Abarth Punto Evo and Avventura powered by Abarth, which happens to be its steroid infused hatchback and crossover. Both cars have been launched at a price tag of Rs. 9.95 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) Powering these ‘Scorpion Stung’ cars is a 1.4-litre turbocharged T-Jet petrol unit that churns out 145 BHP in Abarth Punto and 140bhp in Avventura. Unlike its elder sibling, the 595 Competizione, the cars get a 5-speed manual transmission and hit the 100 kmph mark from a standstill in under 8.8 seconds (Punto) and 9.9 seconds (Avventura).

Maruti Swift Glory Edition

With the festive season upon us, there is no wonder that we will be subjected to a hoard of new launches and special editions. Maruti has finally joined the club with the launch of limited Glory Edition Swift. Mechanically, the car remains identical to your run-of-the-mill Swift and features racing stripes that run across the length of the car. The car will be powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. The power-plants come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

French carmaker Renault has launched its highly anticipated entry-level offering, the Renault Kwid today. The Kwid was amongst the most awaited launch of 2015, due to many factors like its SUV like styling, competitive price of Rs 2.56 lac (Ex-showroom, Delhi)  and a mileage of 25.17 Kmpl. Renault Kwid is also the first car in India which has a dedicated app that lets you browse through the car’s features, accessories and also gives you a 360 degree view of the car. Kwid can also be compared with the competition via the app and users can also book the car through it.
