Toyota Prius, receiving high demand in India
Toyota Prius, one of world’s most popular hybrid car, which was launched in January is receiving a very good response from Indian buyers as company has already booked 80 units of this car with delivering 24 cars last week. Toyota had initially targeted to sell 200 cars in India and it seems to be achieving this target very soon.

Surprisingly, despite the bad performance of Honda Civic hybrid car in India, the first hybrid car which was discontinued due to lack of demand, Toyota Prius model is receiving a high demand in the country. The car was recalled in US market due to some safety related problems surfaced in it. The incident caused much embarrassment to the company, but it looks like that Indian buyers have neglected these factors.
The company is excited with the demand for the car and expecting that once the cars hit the road demand will go up further, said, Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director of sales, Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Company is expecting that the demand for these vehicles will cross the previously aimed 200 units mark and it can go up to 400 to 500 units next year.
Buyers of the Toyota Prius mainly includes entrepreneurs and industrialists, where in the US, the car is a favourite with Hollywood stars. Though company believes that the car will become popular among Bollywood stars soon. Till now, Toyota Motors has sold more then 1.5 million units of Prius world wide.
