    Toyota India eyes upsurge in sales volume with Etios Liva

    After extensive research and testing by a team of expert 2000 engineers, across India and Japan, Toyota India has finally made its debut in the fastest growing hatchback segment in India, by launching its small car Toyota Etios Liva, yesterday in Delhi. Its launch was a big success. By the launch of this long awaited car, Toyota India has plundered into a new era of small cars. Toyota India is now eyeing to grab large volumes in the rapidly growing passenger car market by its stylish hatchback Toyota Etios Liva.

    Managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), Hiroshi Nakagawa said that countries like Japan and United States fall in the category of saturated market, generating less sales volumes so the company is focusing on countries like Russia, Brazil, China and India that serve as the potential markets for the passenger cars.

    Toyota Etios sedan has marked its entrant in Indian auto market in December 2010 and it has generated sales of upto 20,000 units till now. Toyota Etios Liva is developed on Toyota Etios platform and is expected to double the sales volume.  Managing director, Hiroshi Nakagawa also said that they are expecting to take the sales volume to 140,000 units by 2011. Toyota Etios Liva is specifically designed for the Indian youth, moreover, Toyota India has decided the price of this small car judicially making it the cheapest offering from the Toyota.

     Deputy managing director, Sandeep Singh said that they are planning to sale approximately about 140,000 units of Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva, this year and they expect to take this sales volume to 210,000 by 2012 and if both the sedan and the hatchback cars follow the same growth trajectory then by 2015 they will sell upto 350,000 units, which is equivalent to the sales that Hyundai Motors India has made in the domestic market in 2010-11.Since Toyota Etios Liva is based on the same platform as that of Toyota Etios so the company is saving about 10 to 15 percent in production cost per car. Thus  with the launch of Toyota Etios Liva, Toyota India has plundered into the fastest growing and highly competitive Indian auto market.
