The 'More Elite' Next-gen Hyundai i20 for European Market
Meanwhile in Europe, Hyundai has introduced a more premium version of the Elite i20 that they launched in our country a couple of days ago. Hyundai Europe has shared the pictures of the upcoming next-gen i20 in Europe; the hatch is similar to the one Hyundai launched in India recently but is more premium when it comes to features. The formal debut of the hatch will be at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.
Speaking of the changes, the European version gets LED-infused projector headlamps, new colors and panoramic sunroof in the top-end with a tilt function as optional, etc. Moreover, the European i20 has also grown in size compared to its Indian counterpart, the hatch measures 4,035mm in length while the Indian version is a tad below 4m to get tax benefits at 3,985mm. It also features a larger boot space of 320 liters.
Mechanically, the European i20 is likely to feature similar set of engines that powers our Elite i20. The 1.2L dual VTVT and 1.4 U2 CRDI along with the more powerful 1.4 liter petrol. The vehicle will certainly get an automatic along with manuals that Hyundai offers in India. The new i20 will not be exported from India and will be produced in Turkey for the European market. Even in a recent report, Hyundai India said that they will decrease the export number to focus more on Indian market. So the largest exporter of the country will now reduce the exports and will focus more on our growing demands!
