Tata Motors increases prices of passenger and commercial vehicles

Tata Motors today announced an increase in the prices of some passenger vehicles and all its commercial vehicles. The increase is effective from today. The price increase in passenger cars is on the Tata Indica and the Tata Indigo family, in the range of Rs. 4,500/- to Rs. 14,000/-, depending upon the model. In utility vehicles, the price increase is on Tata Sumo and Tata Grande MK II, in the range of Rs. 7,800/- to Rs.10,300/- The price increase is in the light of increase in input costs.

The price increase in commercial vehicle is in the range of Rs. 5,000/- to Rs. 40,000/- which is on account of increase in input costs and introduction of higher specifications in vehicles, meeting BSIII emission norms.

Tata Motors is India's largest automobile company, with consolidated revenues of Rs. 92,519 crores ($ 20 billion) in 2009-10. Through subsidiaries and associate companies, Tata Motors has operations in the UK, South Korea, Thailand and Spain. Among them is Jaguar Land Rover, the business comprising the two iconic British brands. It also has an industrial joint venture with Fiat in India. With over 5.9 million Tata vehicles plying in India, Tata Motors is the country’s market leader in commercial vehicles and among the top three in passenger vehicles.
