Smartly priced City sedan set to take on rivals
Unlike car manufacturers who usually go for a upward price revision on their revamped versions, Honda India has surprised the consumers with new Honda City price placed at Rs 6.99 lakh. Even the base variant of the phased out model sold at Rs 7.49 lakh. Fearing the growing competition from Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna sedan cars among the other closest rivals, Honda India slashed off Rs 66,000 to heat up the competition. Though the lack of petrol engine continued to pinch the consumers, the sales have revved up a little bit. Now, Honda India’s hands are tied which cannot go back to its original price, forget about the price hike.

Despite adding a lot of features in the equation, Honda India had to settle down with Rs 6.99 lakh. In fact, lot of thoughtfulness might have gone in this strategic pricing of the sedan as Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna price start at Rs 6.99 lakh as well for the base variant. The auto major has moved the heaven and earth together to push the sales of what used to be a decent seller in the past. New competition cropping up from every corner, then the diesel engine deficit and a couple of natural calamities during this year have hit Honda City sales drastically. All the efforts made by the auto major have more or less gone down the drain resulting to a decline of 20% to 39,811 in the Honda City sales in the first eight months of the FY2011-2012.

However, now the auto giant is back with a substantial price cut and ample lot of attractive features on inside and out. The dazzling looks of the new Honda City are enough to attract the consumers like magnets. The interesting new set of features in the revamped model are the advanced audio system and alloy wheels right in the mid S variant of the new Honda City, while the cruise control and turn indicators on the OVRMs are offered in the top variant with Sunroof this time. To cap it all, though the untouched 1.5L engine is a bit of a letdown, the car has the full potential to take upon its rivals head-on.

when should i except the diesel variant in honda city.The petrol version design is better than previous.
