  • Skoda India has recalled Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia.

  • 25,722 units have been affected by a potential safety risk.

  • The issue involves malfunctioning seatbelts, specifically for rear seat passengers in any unfortunate head-on accident.

  • Corrective measures over the recall is likely to be announced along with an official statement.

  • The affected part is expected to be inspected and replaced at no extra cost.

According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Skoda India has issued a recall for the Skoda Kylaq, Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia due to a potential safety risk. While the Czech automaker has yet to release an official statement, the report indicates that over 25,722 units manufactured between May 24, 2024, and April 1, 2025 are affected. We expect an official statement regarding this soon. Here’s what you need to know.

Reason Behind This Recall

Skoda has identified a potential risk to the safety of rear passengers during the quality inspection of these three cars – Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia. They stated that in case of an accident involving an unfortunate frontal collision, parts of the rear seatbelt buckle/latch might fail or break. The middle and right side seatbelts in the rear might not work as they should, putting passengers at risk of injury.

What’s Next?

Skoda India has not put out an official announcement on this matter. However, like any other recall from carmakers, we expect Skoda to contact affected owners to bring in their vehicles for inspection and replacement of the part at no extra cost. Until then, we suggest you be a little more careful with using the seatbelts during your drives.

Additionally, two Volkswagen cars – the Volkswagen Virtus and Volkswagen Taigun have also been recalled over the same issue.

Should You Continue To Drive The Recalled Models?

Skoda has yet to specify if the recalled models will be completely safe to be driven in their current condition. Since the risk is subjected particularly to rear occupants, we believe the cars would be safe to drive until the rear seats are occupied. Be cautious about that and we recommend you get the issue corrected promptly, as and when stated by the brand.
