Nissan has revealed the fifth generation Micra at the ongoing 2016 Paris Motor Show. The Japanese automaker teased the all-new hatchback for the first time a few days back. The new Micra will go sale in Europe from March 2017, while there is no official statement about its Indian debut from the automaker yet. However, Nissan is likely to launch it in India maybe in a couple of years.

In terms of design, the 2017 Micra is not even remotely related to the model it will be replacing next year, with its sharp and bold styling. The cute little hatchback has been mutated into a larger and wider rouge offering.

The Micra has adopted Nissan’s current design language, featuring elements such as distinctive V-motion grille, sharp character line running across the length of the vehicles, floating roof (kink in the C-pillar) and boomerang-shaped lights.

Like we have said before, the new Micra features a similar dashboard as the Kicks compact SUV. Indeed, both the vehicles feature a production-spec iteration of the Nissan Sway concept's dashboard. According to Nissan, this is a ‘gliding-wing shaped’ dashboard and it also comes with personalisation options.

Platform and Engines

The new Micra is based on Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B platform. The hatch also shares Active Ride Control (which tweak engine torque and brake pressure for a smoother ride) and Active Trace Control (subtly applies the brakes to aid cornering) with crossovers such as the India-bound X-Trail and the Qashqai for improved ride and handling.
