Modified On Dec 02, 2020 11:04 AM By Rohit for Nissan Magnite

Nissan is expected to price the Magnite between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom)

Update (02/12/2020): Nissan has launched the Magnite with prices beginning from Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Read more about it here.

  • Unofficial pre-launch bookings already underway for Rs 11,000.

  • It will be offered with two petrol engines including a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit.

  • It features a few segment-firsts including a 360-degree camera as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  • Magnite will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The sub-4m SUV segment will soon get a new Nissan-badged competitor called the Magnite. Its official launch has been scheduled for December 2 with official bookings set to commence in the coming days. Meanwhile, unofficial pre-launch bookings are already underway for a token deposit of Rs 11,000.

Nissan’s SUV will be a petrol-only offering. It will offer the choice of a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The former is the same engine that powers the Renault Triber (72PS/96Nm) and it will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. On the other hand, the new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit will be offered with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT automatic. This engine churns out up to 100PS and 152Nm with the CVT whereas the torque output of the MT-equipped variants stands at 160Nm. These are the same engines that are expected to power its cousin, the Renault Kiger, that was recently unveiled in its pre-production guise. The respective fuel-efficiency figures of the Magnite’s powertrains stand at:

  • 1.0-litre MT- 18.75 kmpl

  • 1.0-litre turbo-petrol MT- 20 kmpl

  • 1.0-litre turbo-petrol CVT- 17.7kmpl

On the features front, the Magnite will come with a few segment-firsts such as a 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, 7-inch driver’s display, and JBL sound system. It also gets LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, auto AC, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Standard safety features are likely to include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
