Nissan Micra and Sunny Automatic 'Coming Soon'; Two new products before 2014
Nissan India that aims to grab a bigger market share in India is now planning to launch the automatic version of both its flagship cars- Nissan Micra and Nissan Sunny soon in India. And the confirmation on the same has come from the company’s top officials Toshiyuki Shiga- Chief Operating Officer and the Corporate Vice President (Africa, Middle East and India), Toru Hasegawa, who revealed it to reporters.
"For financial year 2013, we will introduce a CVT variant which is a very fuel efficient engine (for Micra)", company's Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga told reporters. The new Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) engine is a global product offering high fuel efficiency in many Nissan-Renault cars. The newly launched Renault Scala Automatic too features the similar transmission, so it won’t require much efforts to use the same in Micra and the Sunny.
"Very soon..Very soon", company's Corporate Vice President (Africa, Middle East and India), Toru Hasegawa said to a query on when they planned to introduce the new variants. Nissan that has adopted a “Global 88” strategy, which means the company expects to achieve eight per cent market share by 2016 and an eight per cent growth on consolidated operating profits. Shiga said that the company expects to reach 10 per cent market share in India by 2016 from the existing 1.6 per cent.
He further said that over 12,000 units of CVT equipped models have already been sold, and now the company expect to increase it to 20,000 units by 2016. Answering a query about launching Datsun in India, he also said that there will be two new products come in India before 2014.
