Nex-Gen Ford Endeavour test Mule Spotted
Ford Australia has started testing the nex-gen Endeavour with the vehicle spotted in Australia, though fully camouflaged. Ford Everest AKA the nex-gen Endeavour was showcased recently at the 35th on-going Bangkok Motor Show (near production concept version). The SUV will replace the aging Endeavour in India and Everest in other Asian markets. It looks like the car has borrowed all the styling cues of the concept, which was showcased in the Thai capital. The vehicle is fully designed and developed by the Ford Australia for the Asian market.
A little what we can guess from the camouflaged test mule that compared to concept version the vehicle looks exactly identical. As we told you earlier almost all the Ford concepts are nearly production ready. Speaking of the design, the inverted trapezoidal 'Aston Martin' grille is present and is eventually visible. Apart from the grille, bumper assemble also mimics the concept including the fog lamp housing. The D-pillar is completely black including the wing mirror, hinting towards subtle changes. Dimensionally, the car looks similar. The chrome appliqué that was flanked around the tail lamps in the concept version is also pronounced and clearly visible in the camouflaged test mule. The vehicle is sporting a different set of alloys but we guess they are rather for the testing purpose.
It is expected that the car will be pulled by the 3.0 TDCI motor which also powers the current Endeavour. There is a possibility that company will launch the 2.2 liter oil burner from the Ranger which comes in Australia. The turbocharged direct common rail injection engine churns at nearly 150bhp of power and a meaty 375Nm of max torque. The 3.0 liter unit will also witness up-rated power and torque. Both the engines will be matted to six-speed manual and automatic transmission.
It is highly speculated that the SUV will be coming with a new all-wheel drive setup boosting Ford's Terrain Management System – which has four modes namely normal, snow, sand and mud. The terrain management system will be available in the top-end automatic variant of the Endeavour. It seems like Endeavour is taking a big-leap forward; when launched it will compete with Fortuner, Rexton, Pajero Sport and Santa-Fe. Cheers to Ford!!
