India welcomes over 50 years old nameplate - Ford Mustang at the Expo!

After making its formal debut to the media on 28th of January, Ford has unveiled the Mustang at the ongoing 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The over 50 years old American icon will go on sale in the second quarter of this year and will be a CBU import. The American automaker had stated that since it first went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 9 million Mustangs, till date. This 6th generation iteration is the first of Mustang to ever receive a right-hand drive setup - since its launch, half a century ago.

Ford will only be offering the range-topping 5.0l Ti-VCT V8 Mustang GT in the country and it will come standard with the performance pack. The performance pack includes 19-inch tyres, six-piston front brake calipers, 380 mm rotors, a strut bar and front splitter, just to name a few! This performance package is optionally available internationally. The naturally aspirated Ford V8 produces more than 420 horses and a colossal 529 Nm of max torque. The engine is mated to Ford’s 6-Speed SelectShift automatic, with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. It also comes with Selectable Drive Modes (SDM), allowing users to toggle easily between normal, snow/wet, sport and track modes to quickly adjust steering effort, engine response, transmission as well as electronic stability control settings.

Speaking of features, Mustang comes with Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity system with navigation. Other features include - push button start, passive keyless entry, power folding mirrors, rear camera, etc.

See what we did on Mustang’s 51st Birthday!
