The price hike is a result of the termination of the introductory prices that were valid until October 31 or the first 2000 units

  • The Gloster’s base-spec Super 7-seater variant sees the maximum increase of Rs 1 lakh.

  • MG has priced the top-spec Savvy 6-seater variant’s price by only Rs 20,000.

  • It is still cheaper than the Ford Endeavour and VW Tiguan Allspace.

  • The Gloster is now priced from Rs 29.98 lakh to Rs 35.58 lakh (ex-showroom).

MG launched its full-size SUV, the Gloster, on October 8, 2020. It is available in both 6- and 7-seater configurations depending on the variant chosen (Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy). Its introductory pricing ranged from Rs 28.98 lakh to Rs 35.38 lakh (ex-showroom) and were valid until October 31 or the first 2000 units. Let’s look at the revised price list:

Variant

Rs 29.98 lakh

+Rs 1 lakh

Smart 6-seater

Rs 33.98 lakh

+Rs 30,000

Savvy 6-seater

+Rs 20,000

The price hike has resulted in the base-spec Super 7-seater variant getting costlier by a whole Rs 1 lakh while the top-spec Savvy 6-seater variant is pricier by only Rs 20,000. MG has stated that the revised prices are inclusive of the MG Shield after-sales package that has been on offer since launch. Even with the price hike, the MG Gloster is still more affordable than the Ford Endeavour and Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Compared to the diesel-powered Toyota Fortuner, it is more affordable by Rs 69,000.
