    Mercedes-Benz all set to Launch S 500, S 63 AMG & the 'Third' car Tomorrow

    S 500 Coupe and S 63 AMG Coupe are amongst the three models that Mercedes-Benz India will be launching tomorrow on the 30th July, 2015. These models mark the entry of the coupé versions of the new S-Class in the Indian market. The third model will be a special edition and part of Merc’s 15 vehicle launch during 2015. These releases have resulted in an exceptional growth of 41% for the company. The S 500 coupe is a two-door version of the S 500 four-door variant, which is already available in the market.The S 63 AMG will be introduced in new color schemes under the “crazy color” moniker. The car was launched in February 2013 at INR 1.46 crores, ex-showroom, Mumbai.

The S 500 coupe is a two-door version of the S 500 four-door variant, which is already available in the market.The G 63 AMG will be introduced in new color schemes under the “crazy color” moniker. The car was launched in February 2013 at INR 1.46 crores, ex-showroom, Mumbai.

    S 500 Coupe will be launched with a 4.7-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that produces 453 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. The V-8 power-plant is assembled at Force India’s Pune plant and is shared with the S 500 model. 

    The S 63 AMG will feature a 5.5-liter V8 Bi-Turbo engine that produces 585 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. The power-plant will be paired to a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission. S 63 Coupe can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds with its rear-wheel drive configuration or in 3.9 seconds with its 4MATIC all-wheel drive configuration. The car has a steel-aluminum hybrid body shell, which helps it reach a top speed of 250 km/h (Electronically limited) and the car itself is 90 kgs lighter than the S 63 sedan.

    Aesthetically,  the S 63 AMG Coupe and S 500 Coupe feature redesigned bumpers and bigger multi-spoke alloy wheels. The S 500 will also showcase a rear-end with a more sloping profile and similar styling cues will be featured by the S63 coupe, with addition of aggressive body kits and carbon-fiber trims on the interiors. The S 500 Coupe will also have black alloys, red brake calipers, generous carbon fiber usage and carved exterior design. The S 63 AMG will flaunt quad-exhaust units and AMG branding.

    Engine: 4,663cc V8, bi-turbo

    Horsepower: 455

    Torque: 700 Nm

    Gearbox: 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission

    Price: INR 2 Cr (expected ex-showroom)

    S 63 AMG Coupe specs: 

    Engine: 5,461cc V8, bi-turbo

    Horsepower: 585

    Torque: 900 Nm

    Gearbox: AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission

    Price: INR 2.5 Cr (expected ex-showroom)

    The three models will be launched simultaneously along with their price announcements.

    Mercedes-Benz India is also gearing up to bring in models like the  MLC-Class Coupe-SUV, Maybach, AMG GT sportscar, B-Class face-lift amongst others. The German automaker is offering the products in Indian market, which match international standards and has hence, doubled it annual production to 20,000 units.
