Mercedes Benz GLA takes on Audi Q3, BMW X1 & Volvo V40 Cross Country
Mercedes Benz has forayed into entry level luxury SUV segment with the GLA Class. Merc's most economical SUV is on sale now in the country and you can own GLA 200 Sports turbo petrol for Rs. 36 lakh. While diesel starts from 200 CDI at Rs. 32.75 lakh along with top-of-the-line 200 CDI Sports for Rs 36.9 lakh (all prices ex-showroom New Delhi). GLA is offered with front-wheel-drive layout as of now but an AMG version with MB's 4MATIC is coming this month. Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Volvo V40 Cross Country are GLA's major competitors but they entered long before compared to the GLA. Unlike its competitors, GLA also comes equipped with a petrol motor, a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder unit that belts out a healthy 181.1bhp of max power while torque stands tall at 300Nm. Transmission duties are handled by a 7-Speed dual clutch unit, GLA 200 Sports delivers a certified fuel economy of 13.8km/l. The GLA 200 Sports accelerates from naught to 100km/h milestone in 7.6 seconds before topping out at 225km/h.
