Maruti to Discontinue Ritz, Ford & Tata to follow suit
The year 2015 will witness the discontinuation of Maruti Suzuki Ritz, a car that has done average sales for the manufacturer. Maruti sold 34,500 units of Ritz in FY 2014-15, which is pretty low against the number other popular models churning out for the brand. So, the removal of Ritz from the production will help Maruti to focus more on their under-development car, the YRA.
Similarly, other manufacturers like Tata and Ford are also planning to phase out their car that have served them well in their times.
Tata Motors, is planning to phase out Vista, Manza and Movus in coming months. The prime reason for this move is that the sales of all the above mentioned car have gone very low and then they also have to focus on the latest lineup that include Zest and Bolt. It is believed that currently the manufacturing of these three vehicles is carried so as to clear the remaining inventory and production is expected to last till August. On the contrary, Tata will still carry forward the manufacturing of the previous generation of these vehicles, the Indica, Indigo and Sumo Gold.
While, Ford Motor India, in a similar attempt will be discontinuing the Fiesta Classic, now retailed as Classic, as it will allow the upcoming Figo Aspire to thrive freely. It will also discontinue Ford Figo that was a big hit for a long time from the day it was introduced here. However, the rapidly dropping sales gives a signal that its life cycle is done and will be revived by the upcoming next-gen Figo (Ford Ka). Ford may also discontinue the aged Endeavour with the new one that was spied testing recently but it will probably make it to the market by December 2015.
