We are studying how diesel prices will move further in the future. But people will still expect diesel cars in the future."

The report further says that Maruti Suzuki is working on a family of 3-4 diesel powertrains including a 2-cylinder 800cc, a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre, a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre. The 2-cylinder 800cc engine will power the light commercial vehicle and a small car, which might be launched by 2014-15. Others might power the upcoming crossovers, SUVs and bigger SUVs for Suzuki.
