Maruti Suzuki India reports 5.3 per cent sales growth in July

Maruti Suzuki India, country's largest car manufacturer registered a 5.8 per cent sales growth in the domestic market, while 1.3 per cent increase in total sales in July 2013. The company sold 83,299 units (Domestic + Exports) as against 82,234 units in the same month last year. In domestic market, Maruti Suzuki reported 5.8 per cent growth with 75,145 units sold compared to 71,024 units in July last year. Moreover, the sales of mini segment cars, including Maruti 800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR, grew by 15.8 per cent to 33,587 units as against 28,998 units sold in the year-ago month.

However, the sales of the Maruti's compact segment cars including Swift, Estilo, Ritz, were registered a downfall of 11.9 per cent to 13,882 units in July compared to 15,759 units in the same month last year. Meanwhile, the company said that its popular compact sedan Dzire posted 33.6 per cent sales growth during the July to 15,249 units as against 11,413 units in the year-ago month. However, the company's mid-sized sedan SX4's sales came down to 322 units as against 679 units in the same month last year. And, no sale registered for a premium sedan Kizashi during the month.

Talking about utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga, MSI registered a down of 37.5 per cent in sales. The company sold 4,562 UVs in July this year compared to 7,249 units sold in the corresponding month last year. Exports during the month were down 27.3 per cent to 8,154 units as against to 11,210 units in July last year.
