Mahindra to Unveil Crucial Details of U301 on July 30, 2015
Mahindra will unveil specific details and official name of its upcoming SUV codenamed U301 very soon. The ladder framed vehicle has already been spied multiple times while on test runs and will be placed above Bolero and Quanto. The homegrown manufacturer is also readying two more compact SUVs namely S101 and all new Quanto.
In terms of design, the U301 looks upmarket compared to the Bolero but retains the classic boxy proportions. It flaunts Mahindra’s new grille similar to that on the XUV500 and Scorpio with a honeycomb mesh. The test mule seems to ride on 15-inch radials on 5-spoke twin slat alloys. Talking about the interiors, the U301 will offer a more comfortable and premium cabin and we expect features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control AC, cruise control to be added in the new upcoming SUV.
Under the hood, it will be powered by the 1.5-litre diesel engine which also does duty in Quanto. The engine is tuned to deliver better fuel economy and will be mated to both manual and AMT gearbox. The motor as seen in Quanto generates a healthy power output of 100 bhp with 240 Nm of peak torque.
