Mahindra has launched the much-awaited XUV300 in India. It is available in three variants: W4,W6,W8 and W8(O), priced from Rs 7.90 lakh to 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). Here is the detailed price list:

Mahindra XUV300

The Mahindra XUV300 is available with two engine options: a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol that makes 110PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque; and a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Marazzo that makes 115PS/300Nm. At launch, both engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

Mahindra XUV300

As far as features are concerned, the XUV300 gets a bunch of segment-first features including 7 airbags, dual zone AC, multiple steering modes, front parking sensors, heated ORVMs and front and rear disc brakes. Other features on offer include an electric sunroof, auto projector headlamps with DRLs, rain-sensing wipers, ESP, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), tyre direction monitor and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For safety, the XUV300 comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard.

Mahindra is offering the XUV300 in six colour options: Red Rage, Sunburst Orange, Napoli Black, Pearl White, DSAT Silver and Aquamarine. The carmaker is also offering the sub-4m with two dual-tone colour options: Red with white roof, and Aquamarine with white roof.

The Mahindra XUV300 rivals the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Hyundai’s upcoming sub-4m SUV in the Indian market.

What has changed ?

The Mahindra XUV300 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli. However, Mahindra has reduced the length of the SUV to under four metres as well as increased the ground clearance and wheel track (from 1550mm to 1563mm). It has even retuned the suspension and steering setup for Indian conditions.

As confirmed by Mahindra earlier, both the engines of the XUV300 produce class-leading torque. Where the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine makes 110PS of power and 200Nm of peak torque, the 1.5-litre diesel unit is good for 115PS and 300Nm.

Official Name Announced In December 2018

Mahindra announced the production name of the sub-4m SUV in December 2018. Till then, the XUV300 was codenamed the S201.

Mahindra XUV300 origins

The XUV300 is shorter than the SsangYong Tivoli it is based on. Whereas the Korean SUV measures 4.2 metres in length, the Mahindra ducks under four metres. However, both SUVs boast of the same wheelbase of 2600mm.
