Jaguar XKR-S sedan and convertible variant in the works?
Tata Motor Ltd. subsidiary and global luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover is expected to re-launch its fastest production car till date Jaguar XKR S. The luxurious yet powerful car is going to be driven by a 5.0L supercharged engine under the hood with power generation of 550 bhp and 502 lb-ft torque.
Report further states that Jaguar XKR S will be launched in sedan and convertible formats while coupe version of car is already available in global market. It is believed that the new models of Jaguar XKR-S are going adorn same 5.0L supercharged engine while boasting similar styling and difference will be seen only in the top cover and doors.
According to sources, owing to the aluminum body of Jaguar XKR S, this convertible Jaguar car will not have to undertake extreme modifications even if additional weight is poured in the car due to the bracing. Furthermore, this Jaguar Land Rover convertible will be similar to its coupe version which currently available.
Sources further revealed that earlier this week, rumors were floating all over the world auto market that Tata Motors, the owners of Jaguar Land Rover brand, is in search of foreign banks and sponsors with an aim of raising around $2 billion for research and development of Jaguar cars and expanding the outreach. Sources further added that Tata intends to release more Jaguar car models so as to increase the presence in market.
However, recent trend in Indian car market indicates that competition between high-end cars in increasing with fast pace. It is believed that with German luxury car makers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz already marking presence in luxury car segment, the recent addition of Jaguar cars will further fume the competition. It is worth mentioning that British car maker recently launched its super luxury Jaguar XJ sedan in India with two variants namely Jaguar XJ-L 3.0 and jaguar XJ-L 5.0.
