Jaguar to rename its cars alpha-numerically
If all goes well Jaguar will give new name hierarchy to its cars. The British car maker currently a wholly owned subsidiary of the Indian company Tata Motors Ltd has cars such as Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XK, Jaguar XF, and Jaguar XKR in India. The company is planning to give a logical alpha-numeric name to Jaguar cars and it could replace age-old XJ with a new name. Jaguar XJ is company’s flagship model. Jaguar XJ price in India is Rs 95 lakh.

It is said that Adrian Hallmark, company’s head has expressed his concern over the outdated names that the Jaguar cars currently carry and has said that only a person familiar with Jaguar can know what type of car it is by seeing the name. If the cars carry new names it would be easier for people to identify the car type. Jaguar's decision is also seen in the light of its rising demand in Asia primarily from India and China. It is said that the sale in the two countries has overtaken sale of Jaguar cars in America.

It is also said that in the beginning, the hybrid supercar by Jaguar would receive the new badge and hopefully other Jaguar cars would follow. The Hybrid super car by Jaguar is an upcoming car and it is likely that it has also gone into mass production. Jaguar C-X75 super cars was recently announced and it would be under production in limited series in conjunction with the Williams F1 team. The concept car will be powered by four cylinder 1.6L petrol engine and gas micro turbines. Jaguar was acquired by Indian auto major Tata Motors in 2008. Jaguar Land Rover has recently inaugurated its assembly plant in Pune, besides it also plans to source machinery from India. Recently Jaguar was in the news regarding its plans to launch C-X75 hybrid super car.
