Jaguar F-Pace Bookings Begin Next Week
JLR dealers will set the booking amount at Rs 5 lakh!
Earlier this week, we reported that Jaguar will introduce the F-Pace in India come October 2016. While the SUV’s price announcement is expected in the third week of the month, we’ve learnt that Jaguar Land Rover dealerships will start accepting bookings next week!
Sources tell us JLR dealers will set the booking amount at Rs 5 lakh and the pricing, well, let’s just say we never expected Jaguar’s first ever SUV to come cheap. The F-Pace could be offered at a starting price of Rs 85 lakh and top-out at around Rs 1.20 crore. At that expected price, the new Jag on the block will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLE coupe, Porsche Macan, BMW X6 and the Range Rover Evoque, even though it would sit a princely few lakhs above its cousin from JLR. There’s also the likelihood of a price overlap with certain variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and even the Range Rover Sport.
It has also been confirmed that there won’t be a petrol engine, at least initially. What we will get are two diesel powertrains and at least three variants to choose from. The entry-level ‘Pure’ and ‘Prestige’ grades will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that makes 180PS of power and 430Nm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, this engine drives the F-Pace from 0-100kmph in 8.7 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 208kmph.
The ‘R-Sport’, which is expected to cross the Rs 1 crore price mark, gets the full-fat 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel that makes 300PS of power and 700Nm of torque. Jaguar claims a 0-100kmph sprint time of 6.2 seconds for this variant and a top speed of 241kmph. Like the other variants, the R-Sport gets an 8-speed autobox by ZF, and all-wheel drive.
