India-bound 2019 Skoda Superb Facelift Spied
Flagship sedan expected to be launched here by June 2019

Skoda launched the third-gen Superb in India back in 2016. Now, three year later, the carmaker is planning to give its flagship sedan a mid-life update. Although Skoda has not yet made any official announcement regarding the same, a test mule was spotted testing recently, revealing the design of the updated sedan.
The test mule gets subtle aesthetic updates that are of the easy-to-miss kind. At the front, the sedan features an updated bumper with repositioned fog lamps and a reworked central airdam. The headlamps are also sleeker than before and flank the slightly reworked front grille. The chrome surround on the front grille looks more bulkier than the one seen on the current model. The side profile remains identical except for the new alloys, but there is a possibility that these alloys are being used for testing purposes only. The only change visible at the back are the reworked tail lamps, which look a touch wider than the units seen on the current model.

While the interior setup is likely to remain unchanged, it is expected to be better equipped than before. The Superb is likely to get the all-digital virtual cockpit instrument cluster, 360-degree camera and LED headlamps like the Kodiaq LK.
The Superb facelift is likely to get the same set of petrol and diesel engine as the current model. These include a 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 177PS of power and 350Nm of torque with a 6-speed AT and a 1.8-litre petrol unit in two states of tune. The higher spec version puts out 180PS and 320Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed MT. The the lower-spec version puts out 180PS and 250Nm and comes with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic). At launch, both the engines are expected to be BSIV-compliant. However, Skoda will update them to meet BSVI norms before the April 2020 deadline.
The 2019 Skoda Superb is likely to be priced at par with current model. Currently, it is priced between Rs 25.99 lakh to Rs 33.49 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). It will continue to rival the conventionally-powered Volkswagen Passat and hybrid sedans like the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda Accord Hybrid.
