The Hyundai Venue's powerful 120PS 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is claimed to deliver an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 18.15kmpl. How much does it actually deliver in the real world?
The Hyundai Venue is quickly climbing the ladder in the sub-4m SUV space and is expected to surpass the present sales leader, the Vitara Brezza, soon. It is available with multiple powertrain options, including the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol with both manual and dual-clutch automatic transmission options. We recently tested the Venue 1.0-litre turbo petrol manual to compare what it returns in real-world conditions against what Hyundai claims. Here are the numbers:

The real-world fuel efficiency tests reveal that the Venue 1.0-litre turbo petrol manual is not as fuel efficient as Hyundai claims. Having said that, it was expected since the claimed efficiency figures are recorded under controlled conditions.
If you check out the second table, heavy city usage would amount to an overall fuel efficiency somewhere around 13kmpl in the long run. Please note that the figure can drop lower if you have to negotiate your way through dense traffic often. On the other hand, if your daily routine involves a relatively empty route where you can cruise comfortably, expect the overall fuel efficiency figure to go over 16kmpl.
