Honda Finally Decides to Bring in its Diesel Cars in 2013

Finally here comes a good news, that Honda siel which has been India's one of the most lovable car brand is planning to come up with its diesel line up. The people who are familiar with the developments of the new diesel engine told that the Japanese car maker Honda is planning to launch its first diesel car in India in the first quarter of 2013. They also added that according to the plans of the company, the car was planned to be coming in the year 2014 but looking at the difference rising in the prices of petrol and diesel in India, the company decided to bring in its first diesel engine car a bit earlier.

Honda India is going to launch diesel versions of the small car Brio and Brio sedan which is codenamed as 2TP in the first quarter of the year 2013, which will be followed by the launch of City diesel version lately by October 2013. The new Jazz hatchback which was to be launched in the Auto Expo of 2014, is now expected to be a diesel engine car. All the new launching diesel cars will be having either a 1.2 liter engine or a 1.5 liter engine. Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Honda Siel’s Senior Vice-President of Marketing has denied these advancements saying these are media speculations. Sen added that the RD team of the company is still developing an efficient diesel engine and no particular decision have been taken as to in which model the engine will be used and when it will be launched.

Honda Siel Cars sold about 54,427 cars in 2011-12, which was estimated to be 8.46% less than the figures of previous year due to manufacturing problems and Tsunami in Japan and floods in Bangkok. Unlike previous year’s sales the company sold about 28,731 units during January-April 2012, which was estimated to be 71% more than the previous year because of the success of Brio. The company has planned to sell 1.2 lakh cars knowing about the tough environment surrounding the industry. The company is also going to invest Rs. 3,000 crore of fresh funds for the new products and to expand capacity. A new manufacturing plant will be soon coming up in the Tapakura in Rajasthan.
