Honda Civic is No More!
Honda India has finally decided to phase out the Civic in India due to its miserable performance especially in last one year. The production of the vehicle has already been stopped, the current stock available at dealerships are the last few Civics to be sold in India. Moreover, Honda is not planning to bring in the latest generation model which was launched in global markets in 2011.

Unavailability of diesel engine with Honda has been the major force behind the withdrawal of the executive saloon Civic in India. Where most of its competitors including VW Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura and others have the diesel variants available; the civic however being a great car lost its pace. The company is still in the process to develop a compatible diesel engine that can be fitted in its sedans and other big vehicles, it is the company’s hatchback or other compact vehicles which are will get the diesel heart. As per the word on street, Honda Brio will be the first car to come in diesel engine in India.
Introduced in 2006, the Civic had been amongst the top selling D-segment cars then and has bagged appreciations all around due to its great styling, comfort, power and ride quality, but constant rise in the petrol prices have compelled buyers to go towards diesel cars. Where in 2007, it was the best-seller car with a total of 2546 units sold, the sales in July 2012 has come down to a meager 138 units. Not just Civic, but company’s most vehicles are struggling hard due to the lack of diesel engine, so the company has now paced its diesel engine plans. Soon we will see an array of diesel vehicles from the Honda.
