Though the new Honda Civic 2012 is being criticized because of its looks but performance wise this car is upgraded with four engines and is available in four transmission options ranging between engines of 140 hp 1.8 litre, i-VTEC engine for Civic DX, DX-VP, LX, EX and EX-L models upgraded with 5 speed automatic transmission and another with an engine of 197 hp, with 2.0 litre i-VTEC engine for Honda Civic Si model with 6 speed manual transmission. The Honda Civic hybrid is upgraded with 1.3 litre i-VTEC engine supported by Integrated Motor Assist gasoline and electric hybrid technology to increase both fuel economy and powerful performance.
