    Honda City outpaces Vento sales

    A stitch in time saves nine, the phrase worked for Honda City when it realised that competitor Volkswagen Vento is taking away its market share. The company underwent a massive revision in pricing of the car and finally succeeded in inclining the sales towards its side in August. Honda City outnumbered Volkswagen Vento's sales by gigantic 93% in August. It sold 5819 units compared to 3019 by its German rival.

    Due to rising petrol prices the craze for a diesel car in Indian market has been ever-increasing. This trend was paving way for rivals like Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna to play merrily with Honda City which is available only with petrol engine. Honda City sales was facing its worst period in the first quarter of this year in terms of sales. However the company mended its situation soon. But the diesel variant of Honda City is still not out, it is expected to be launched by next year.

With new Ford Fiesta and Fluidic Hyundai Verna hitting the road, Vento's sale are certain to fall. However the Volkswagen owes its poor sale to high interest rates and fuel prices.
