General Motors Eyeing At Increasing The Price

The American auto giant, General Motors is planning to increase the prices of cars in the Indian portfolio. The Indian arm of General Motors is to increase its car prices for the second time in this year.

As per the statements made by P Balendran who is the Vice-President in General Motors India, the company is looking forward to bring up the car model prices for the second time in Indian auto market. The major reason behind the hike is given as increased raw materials cost by the company officials. He also said that the growing auto world is also facing a great hike in the cost of auto parts.

He stated that the company will review the entire situation which includes the hiked up prices of inputs and by the month end they will come up with a final statement on which the decision will be based.

In the month of January 2011 we saw that the company had increased all car prices by 2 per cent on the Indian portfolio. Balendran has shown a deep concern on the growing input cost as it is leading to stressed profit margins for the company. He has said that the increased input cost is forcing the car makers to increase their car prices.

The current portfolio of general Motors in Indian hold a total of eight sub-brands; Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Aveo UVA, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Cruze and the latest Chevrolet Beat.

Among the future plans, the company is intending to bring its all new and exclusive Cadillac brand in India auto market. The General Motors top officials have said that the company will launch their Cadillac brand in Indian auto market. P Balendran has also said that the company is doing extreme ly well with its Chevrolet brand in Indian and will continue further with same growth rate.
