Ford's manufacturing and product offering got greener on Earth Day
Ford has introduced recycle product usage in the manufacturing and for the product ancillaries. Like for an example the company is recycling the cotton in the old pair of jeans or in the worn out T-shirt for the in-cabin carpet and for the other insulating materials. Ford is highly committed to build quality vehicles for a sustainable future.

Ford’s emphasis on environmentally sound making begins at its manufacturing facilities. “Ford Motor Company is a responsible manufacturer that cares for the environment and has been following several eco-friendly practices at its factories across the globe. With a vision to promote sustainable development, we have adopted some of these best practices in our Chennai factory as well. We are also committed to promote green processes across our value chain,” says P. Senthil Kumar, vice president, Vehicle Operations, Ford India.
The company has designed EMOS - the Energy Management Operating System. The main objective of the entire system is save energy at each and every step and reduce the wastage. The system is designed for every step from manufacturing to selling – manufacturing plants to office to dealerships and people.
“We have been making conscious efforts towards a sustainable future by incorporating several green practices in our manufacturing processes. We are re-using 100% of the waste water generated in the plant, and have reduced electricity consumption per car by 10%. 100% of the hazardous waste generated is either recycled or co-processed in the cement industries – making it a zero landfill plant. Moreover, we have substantially enhanced our utilization of resources with the help the path-breaking green manufacturing processes,” he added.
The energy conversation is carried in the engines too; take the example of the two times international engine of the year (2012-2013)- the high capable yet extremely efficient EcoBoost 1.0 liter turbo-charged motor. Kudos to the 'Blue Oval'!!
