Ford Fiesta Hatchback Not Coming.Complete Focus on EcoSport

Ford unveiled its new EcoSport in New Delhi just a couple of days before the Auto Expo, earlier this year. Ford has been publicizing this compact SUV in India and the company is also gearing up to launch it, probably sometime early next year. Rumours have been floating on the internet that Ford will introduce the Fiesta hatchback as well. Our sources confirm that for the time being Ford has no such plans. The Ecosport, which will be based on the Fiesta platform, will be costing between Rs 6.5-8.5lakh. This is almost Fiesta hatchback territory pricing.

Hence to avoid this clashing with the EcoSport, introducing Fiesta hatchback will not be a part of the current strategy plan. The EcoSport will the first Ford model for India that will be powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine. This direct-injection turbocharged petrol mill is capable of producing 125bhp and the engine is as compact as an A4 size paper. However if things do not work out, then probably Ford might think of introducing the Fiesta hatchback. But at the moment, there are no such plans.
