Maserati currently uses the V8 engines that are built by Ferrari and from what we hear, Ferrari is to soon further develop new V6 and V8 engines for Maserati's upcoming lineup. Ferrari had previously built the 4.5-litre engine which is seen powering the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione.

Last week, during the 2012 Paris Auto Show, Sergio Marchionne, the man leading the Fiat Group had said that Ferrari's engineering would be used to further enhance the Alfa Romeos that are lined up for the future. However, there were no revelations made by him regarding the details, although according to a leading news channel the details will be revealed within the next two months.

The engine is said to be a V6 unit which will be seen powering the top-end Alfa Romeo models. This is a good news but follows a bad news that, these developments might delay the return of Alfa Romeo to USA even further.
