Ferrari Reveals Its Fastest And Most Powerful Car: The 812 Superfast!

Sadly, it is presumably one of the last of its kind and certainly the very last Ferrari supercar to ever feature a naturally aspirated V12, as hybrid supercars are the future.

Maranello-based supercar maker Ferrari has taken the wraps off its most powerful and fastest production car till date – the 812 Superfast. The successor of the F12 Berlinetta will have its public debut at the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show next month. This insanely fast offering in the history of the Prancing Horse also celebrates 70 years of Ferrari.

As Ferrari is touting the 812 as its fastest offering, let us start with numbers. The 812 Superfast sprints from nought to 100kmph in 2.9 seconds and will keep accelerating till 340kmph. And as they say, 'it's the heart that matters the most', the 812 Superfast receives a brand new engine – a 6.5-litre V12 (65°) – as opposed to the F12 Berlinetta, which has a 6.3-litre V12. The new unit produces 800PS of max power at 8,500rpm and 718Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. It offers nearly 60 horses more than the F12 along with roughly 28Nm of extra torque. The 812 Superfast's engine offers tech such as a nearly 5000psi direct injection system (used for the first time in a high performance engine) and variable geometry intake tracts along with a specifically designed dual-clutch transmission with shorter up- and down-shifting times between gears.

As for the aesthetics, the 812 Superfast features a fastback silhouette and, according to Ferrari, its design is inspired by the 1969 365 GTB4. Even at the rear, it is a familiar Ferrari tale, featuring four round tail lamps. The car is being launched in a special new colour, Rosso Settanta, which marks the company's 70th anniversary.
