Diesel variants of Etios twins to launch on September 9
The Toyota Motor Corp, the Japanese auto giant had launched its Toyota Etios Liva hatchback in a petrol variant on 27th of June this year. However, the hatchback was unable to attract the customers, the way the company had envisaged, which could be due to the lack of the diesel variant in the market. Toyota is working aggressively to roll out the diesle variants of the Etios twins. Rumor has it that Toyota Etios diesel and Toyota Etios Liva diesel will be launched on September 9.

The company has high hopes from the diesel variants of the Etios twins. With the volatile petrol prices, the consumers are opting for the diesel variants of the car, hence the petrol variant alone of the Toyota Etios Liva hatchback could not become the traffic puller in the car market. To further complicate the matter, Maruti India and Honda India had launched their respective hatchbacks, new Maruti Swift and new Honda Jazz hatchback respectively to compete against the Toyota Etios Liva. With the wait time for the Maruti Swift delivery of over 4 months and Honda Motor’s lack of diesel vehicle line-up, Toyota Motor Corp. has timed it perfectly to make an impact in the Indian car market with the launch of Toyota Etios twins in the diesel variants.

The sedan and the hatchback models of the Toyota Etios brand are likely to house the same 1.4 liter 75 bhp fixed turbo geometry engine and a promising fuel economy of 21 kmpl is expected from both. Etios twins are likely to come with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox. The other models offered by the Toyota India in the country include Toyota Camry, Toyota Altis, Toyota Etios Liva ,Toyota Etios sedan, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Innova, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Toyota Land Cruiser and Toyota Pirus.
