The homegrown Utility vehicles manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra will launch the facelifted version of XUV500 on May 25, 2015. The automaker has started teasing the upcoming model on its website with tracker displaying the remaining time to launch. The SUV was first launched in 2011 and the facelift for this car was long expected from the people.

As seen in the recent spied images (and in teaser image), the SUV will feature ‘S’ shaped LED inserts in headlights, inspired from eyebrow shaped LED DRLs in Mahindra Scorpio. The updated SUV will also get new honeycomb mesh grille with black slats and chrome highlights which was again first seen in the second-gen Scorpio.

The front bumper is also redesigned and now gets wider air damps with chrome housing on fog lamps. The side profile is also also expected to get a new set of wheels with 10-spoke alloys.

Interiors of the vehicle are carry forwarded, but it receives noticeable changes in the central console. It seems to pack a larger touch screen, updated infotainment system (just like the new Scorpio) and the cabin reduces its top glossy parts. The rest of the features will be kept same.

XUV 5OO facelift will continue to be powered by the same 2.2-liter mHawk, direct-injection Variable Geometry Turbocharged (VGT) diesel engine. The 2179cc oil burner generates 140 bhp @ 3750 rpm and max torque of 330 Nm in-between 1600-2800 rpm. The motor will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, just like the current model.
