Chevrolet Beat among four Chevy models winning IIHS Top Safety Pick awards
Chevrolet Spark (known as Beat in India) is among the four Chevrolet models that won the 2015 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick awards. The 2015 Chevrolet Spark (Beat), Volt, Malibu and Equinox are the models that won the 2015 IIHS Top Safety Picks which covers mini car, small car, midsize sedan and midsize SUV segments respectively. The Top Safety Pick award goes to models that achieve a good or acceptable rating in the challenging small overlap front test – introduced in 2012 – and a good rating in each of the Institute’s four other crashworthiness evaluations, which include moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints.
“Receiving this recognition from IIHS for the 2015 Spark, Volt, Malibu and Equinox is great news for Chevrolet and even greater news for our customers,” said Steven Majoros, director, Chevrolet Cars and Crossover Marketing.
IIHS is a nonprofit organization wholly supported by auto insurers. For 2015, the number of models earning either the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ awards rose from 39 to 71 compared to a year ago.
