Among the four concepts unveiled by Mahindra at the Freedom NU event, the automaker has revealed the Mahindra Vision T SUV concept. It’s essentially a more evolved version of the Mahindra Thar E concept which was showcased in South Africa in 2023. The Vision T is underpinned by Mahindra’s new NU IQ platform. Let’s check out this concept in detail in real-life images.

    Front

Up front, the Vision T boasts an imposing 6-slat split grille which looks inspired from the Mahindra Thar Roxx. Design elements like squared headlights with vertical LED DRL stripes comes directly from the Thar E concept. It also gets an offroad style front bumper that looks macho. An exposed toe hook latch in yellow gives it a nice contrast.

    Side

The Vision T sports a traditional boxy SUV silhouette closely resembling the Mahindra Thar Roxx, especially due to its rear quarter-glass section, which gets a part black finish. It features a Land Rover Defender-inspired storage compartment mounted on the C-pillar, while, just like the Thar Roxx, the rear door handle is positioned on the C-pillar.

The rugged appeal is further enhanced by thick body cladding running along the length of the SUV, and it runs on off road tyres, with aero-style dual-tone alloy wheels.

    Rear

The rear is highlighted by a tailgate-mounted spare wheel in typical Thar fashion. It features squared tail lights with vertical LED stripes, mirroring the LED DRLs at the front.

    Interior

We didn’t get to see the Vision T concept’s cabin in person, but Mahindra offered a glimpse of its interior during the presentation at the event. It features an upright dashboard with a dual-tone interior theme and a 3-spoke steering wheel bearing the ‘Vision T’ marque on the horn pad. This steering wheel also integrates a start/stop button inspired from sports cars.

The main highlight inside is its large vertical touchscreen which also has a climate control display integrated into it. There’s also a fully digital driver’s display placed in front of the steering wheel.

    Powertrain

Since the Mahindra Vision T concept is based on automaker’s new Nu IQ platform which can accommodate multiple powertrains, this SUV could come in both ICE (internal combustion engine) and EV avatars.

The Mahindra Vision T concept is expected to arrive in production-ready form by late 2027 or 2028. Once launched, it will take on the Maruti Jimny, Force Gurkha, and Force Gurkha 5-door.
