BMW & Mercedes-Benz Most Searched Luxury Brands: Google Search
Google, optimizing your search since 1998, suggests some of the interesting search trend in the luxury segment of India. The search results were analysed by Google Search and according to the website, Mercedes and BMW both together shared the ‘Top spot’ as both the manufacturer with their aggressive online presence attracted a large number of brand and product related queries on Google search. Apart from the German Big 3"s, the world’s top luxury brand also includes Tata Motors owned Jaguar-Land Rover.
The luxury automakers are now targeting the growing number of rich Indians, and with Internet as their main platform in promoting the brand, the manufacturers have really taken the promotion to a next level. Its also seen that the internet is playing a vital role in the decision making. Sharing my personal experience, I too have seen my classmates and friends searching for ‘’Best Hatchback Under 5 lakh’’ on Google. So all these collective searches from all over India are then analyzed by Google and that’s how the website displays the popular searches or the brand searched most!
In the Indian auto sector, the German manufacturers are facing stiff competition from each other along with the homegrown carmakers. According to the search results, Jaguar pushed Audi’s ranking to the fourth position on Google Search. As per the data available, the Indian luxury segment witnessed sales of more than 32,000 units in 2013 while it is expected to cross the 50,000 units mark in this calendar year.
Moreover, as per Google Analytics, smaller cities and towns (Tier-1 and Tier-2) are also contributing to a great extent and are now very much part of the mainstream markets. Cities like Thiruvananthapuram, Ludhiana, Vadodara, Ernakulum, and Surat contributed the most number of searches for Mercedes-Benz while for BMW, Ludhiana leads the search interest. For Jaguar, significant response came from Coimbatore, Chinchwad, Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Noida and for Audi, the most searches came from metros cities like Bangalore, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai and Mumbai.
